UP Police Photo & Signature Requirements (2026)

OTR portal specs for Constable and SI, the running-signature rule, and why uploads fail.

UP Police recruitment runs through the UPPRPB One Time Registration portal, so the photo and signature you upload once are reused across Constable and SI drives — and one non-compliant file blocks all of them. The portal is strict about a centred face with both ears visible and about the signature being in running handwriting; block letters are the single most common rejection.

Why applications get rejected

  • A signature in block letters instead of running handwriting
  • Face off-centre or ears hidden in the photograph
  • Photo outside the common 20–50 KB window
  • Assuming Constable and SI limits are identical — some SI notices differ

How to prepare your files

  1. Confirm the limits on your own notification — SI cycles have allowed larger photos.
  2. Take a recent passport-style photo on a light background, face centred.
  3. Resize it to about 180×225 px within 20–50 KB.
  4. Sign in running hand, resize to 140×60 px within 5–20 KB, and upload both.

Frequently asked questions

Is OTR mandatory?

Yes — UPPRPB requires One Time Registration before applying, and the photo and signature on that profile are reused across recruitments.

Why is my signature rejected?

Almost always because it's in block letters, over the size cap, or scanned with the paper edge visible. Sign in running hand on plain white paper.
