NTA's photo and signature rules for JEE Main, the file-naming rule, and rejection reasons.
JEE Main's upload check is NTA's standard pattern with two twists that trip candidates: the 80% face-visibility rule (ears must show, no mask) and the instruction to name the files 'Photograph' and 'Signature'. NTA has also revised the KB ranges between sessions, which is why every figure here carries a confirm-on-bulletin caveat — the numbers below are the commonly enforced ones.

Why applications get rejected
- Hair or a mask hiding the ears, failing the 80% face rule
- Photo outside the 10–200 KB range or the signature outside 10–100 KB
- A filtered, brightened or collage photo — all banned by NTA
- A signature that doesn't match the one signed at the exam centre

Frequently asked questions
Do the files really need specific names?
NTA's guidelines ask for the photo file to be named 'Photograph' and the signature 'Signature'. Rename them before uploading to avoid a needless rejection.
Can I reuse my NEET photo?
The NTA photo standard is the same, but NEET additionally needs a postcard-size photo. A compliant NEET passport photo generally works for JEE Main.
