Agniveer Photo & Signature Requirements (2026)

Army, Navy and Air Force upload rules — sizes, the slate rule, and why files get rejected.

The three Agniveer streams look similar but enforce different upload rules. Army entries are the strictest on file size, often capping the photo at 10–20 KB; Air Force (Agniveer Vayu) and Navy entries frequently require the photo to be taken holding a black slate with your name and the date written in chalk. Signatures in block capitals are rejected at document verification across all three. This guide separates the common rules from the service-specific ones.

Why applications get rejected

  • Photo outside your service's stated range — Army entries can require as little as 10–20 KB
  • Missing the name-and-date slate where the Air Force or Navy notification requires it
  • Signature in block capitals, which fails document verification
  • An old or filtered photo — a recent, unedited image is required

How to prepare your files

  1. Read your own service's notification first — Army, Navy and Air Force limits differ.
  2. If your entry requires it, photograph yourself holding the slate with name and date.
  3. Resize the photo to about 3.5×4.5 cm within your entry's KB range.
  4. Sign in running hand, resize to your entry's signature range, and upload both.

Frequently asked questions

Do all three services use the same photo size?

No. They are similar (about 3.5×4.5 cm, 10–50 KB), but Army entries often specify a tighter 10–20 KB range, and slate rules vary — always follow your own notification.

What is the slate rule?

Air Force and Navy Agniveer entries commonly require the photo to show you holding a black slate with your name and the photo date written in white chalk. Check your notification before shooting.
